The Holidays are upon us, and in healthcare food and nutrition services, it means handling an abundance of catering events and special requests throughout the hospitals and health systems we proudly serve. Patient care is at the center of all that we do. And while this is our busiest time of year, I’m so proud of how our Morrison team members stay focused on each one of our patients, and use the Power of Food to provide the compassionate service and hospitality that make a meaningful difference in peoples’ lives.
To do this, it often means going above and beyond what’s expected, like our food and nutrition services team recently did at Waterbury Hospital in Connecticut. They participated in a wonderful community initiative the hospital sponsored by adopting an underserved single mom and her four young children. Everyone on the team pitched in and bought presents for the family, wrapping each one with special care in the hopes it would brighten their Christmas. Before they were given to the family, the hospital’s CEO saw the abundance of gifts that were stacked high and ready for delivery. She was so moved by the team’s generosity that she shared it in her companywide newsletter as a shining example of giving back to the community.
This is just one example of the kinds of stories I receive now and throughout the year, and I’m humbled by the dedication, compassion and giving spirit of our amazing Morrison team members.
And, of course, we have our great hospital partners to thank for giving us the opportunity and support we need to serve their patients, caregivers, guests, and communities. It’s a huge responsibility, and for us, that’s what the Power of Food is all about.
Best wishes to you and yours for a safe and joyous season and a very prosperous 2017.
