Competency Programs

Advancing Standards, Strengthening Clinical Readiness

The Competency Program helps health systems build confidence in the quality and consistency of care. By aligning team performance with regulatory expectations, it provides a clear and measurable way to maintain clinical excellence while supporting ongoing professional growth.

Competency Programs

Turning Competency Data Into Action

The Competency Program combines structured evaluation with digital tracking to make clinician performance measurable and manageable. Its web-based platform, the Clinical Record of Competency (CROC), streamlines how clinical nutrition managers document, track, and assess competencies across their teams.

Within CROC, the Spark feature identifies and monitors the number and types of competencies required for each clinician, while the dashboard provides real-time visibility into departmental performance and regulatory readiness. Together, these tools reduce manual data collection, highlight strengths and opportunities, and free managers to focus on strategic improvements.

Purpose-Built Solutions That Strengthen Clinical Excellence

CROC: Clinical Record of Competency

CROC is a secure, web-based platform that centralizes competency tracking and documentation for clinical teams.

It includes Spark for monitoring required competencies and a dashboard that gives managers real-time visibility into performance and compliance. By replacing manual spreadsheets with automated reporting, CROC saves time, reduces administrative work, and helps teams stay prepared for audits and surveys.

Order Writing Toolkit

The Order Writing Toolkit helps Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) provide timely, evidence-based nutrition care within their scope of practice. It defines privileging pathways based on state regulations and offers clear guidance for developing policies, authorizing privileges, and reviewing ongoing competency. Integrated into the Competency Program, it ensures RDNs maintain the skills and credentials needed to write nutrition orders safely and confidently.

Nutrition-Focused Physical Exam (NFPE)

The Feeding Tube Placement Program gives RDNs the training and validation needed to perform bedside insertions safely and effectively. Each clinician completes supervised placements and annual reassessments to maintain proficiency. The program aligns with ASPEN standards and supports the documentation required for credentialing and compliance, helping hospitals maintain consistent, high-quality care.
