Community

Commitment to Community

We are continuously and passionately committed to the health of our patients, communities and planet. Caring is the foundation of everything we do. Morrison understands that our impact reaches far beyond the walls of the hospitals. When we begin a partnership, we want to explore how we also can have a larger impact on the community around us.

Community Service

While we exist to satisfy and serve the needs of our patients, hospital staff, and guests, our commitment to service runs deep—it doesn’t stop at hospital walls. United by The Power of Food™, Morrison Healthcare associates are caring for their communities in countless ways. Whether it’s supporting neighbors devastated by a storm, raising awareness about heart health through our Teaching Kitchen program, or building a Habitat for Humanity home, our teams show up and serve everyone around us.

Compass in the Community

To address the needs of the communities in which we serve, our parent company, Compass Group sponsors a program called Compass in The Community that serves to encourage and recognize our local managers who go above and beyond their account responsibilities to play a part in philanthropic community activities.

Our Compass in the Community program supports investment of resources in the communities where we live and work. Areas of focus include nutrition-related health and welfare, fighting hunger and malnutrition, and supporting sustainable food systems. We recognize associates’ investment in their local communities by making a monetary donation to the organization of their choice through our Compass in the Community Awards program.

Partnerships

We are continually seeking opportunities to partner with organizations to promote stronger and healthier communities.

Morrison Healthcare + Asheville Poverty Initiative

Morrison Healthcare at Mission Health partners with Asheville Poverty Initiative (API) to help provide “rescued” food to members of the community. The food is served by volunteers out of the 12 Baskets Café located in the West Asheville, North Carolina neighborhood. Mission Health works in tandem with local restaurants to donate food and support API’s goal to nourish and educate the community members. The food provided meets strict dietary guidelines and recipe compliance, so recipients of the food are receiving healthy, well-balanced meals.

IMPACT OF PARTNERSHIP

  • Donated 100 pounds of food per week to Asheville Poverty Initiative.
  • Worked to provide on-site nutritional information to help community members grow their nutritional knowledge.
  • Provided food at no cost at their annual donor dinner to increase awareness of the program and partnership with Morrison.

Feeding Healthcare Heroes

In the midst of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 Compass One and Morrison Healthcare teamed up with the Miami Marlins Home Plate Meals for Heroes, Coca-Cola, and several other food vendors to serve 2,500 hot meals to University of Miami Health System workers.
