  • Socktober Enjoys Record-breaking Results

    Socktober at UVA Health University Medical Center brought in 42,311 pairs of socks for those without a home. It almost triples the amount donated last year and will set a new record for any Morrison Healthcare facility, making giving back for the holidays a bit more special. Large bins of socks were handed off today to The Haven and the Salvation Army in Charlottesville. For those looking to contribute, this event takes place every October.

  • UVA Health Donates 42,311 Pairs of Socks to Local Nonprofits

    As part of its annual “Socktober” event, team members at the UVA Health Medical Center donated 42,311 pairs of socks for The Haven and Salvation Army in Charlottesville. The event is run each year by the Morrison Healthcare team the medical center.  Morrison Healthcare is the medical center’s food and nutrition provider, and the 42,311 donated by UVA Health, including both the medical center and its remote department all across the Commonwealth, is a new record for any Morrison Healthcare facility since the event began in 2020. It’s also almost triple the 15,780 pairs donated by UVA last year.

    Familiarity and fun can raise spirits and put kids at ease in the hospital. Morrison Healthcare is offering a fresh helping of both with the launch of a new patient menu in Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU’s Children’s Tower. From purrr-fect oatmeal with apple whiskers and a cat face for the little ones to kicked up chicken tenders for teens, menu offerings are designed to comfort kids and taste delicious.

  • Compass One Healthcare Donates Over 300,000 Pairs of Socks During 2025 Socktober Campaign

    “Socktober” continues to be a celebrated and engaging campaign for Compass One Healthcare associates across the country. This year, Compass One Healthcare once again exceeded its donation goals by collecting and donating more than 300,000 pairs of socks to local charities across the United States. Compass One Healthcare, which includes branded healthcare sectors Crothall HealthcareIntelasMorrison Healthcare, and TouchPoint Support Services, as well as senior living sector CCL Hospitality Group, hosts an annual donation drive encouraging teams at hospitals, health systems, and senior living communities nationwide to donate socks to local shelters and charities.

According to Practice Greenhealth, more than one-third of the food we produce in the U.S. is never eaten, and hospitals alone generate almost 300,000 tons of food waste each year. The environmental stewardship team at Providence is deeply committed to caring for people and the planet. Every day, we work toward being carbon negative by 2030 and diverting more than 50% of our waste from landfills and hazardous streams.

  • Akron-Canton Foodbank, 8 other pantries to share $2 million donation from Cleveland Clinic

    The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and eight other organizations in the Feeding America network of food banks will share a $2 million donation from the Cleveland Clinic to aid hunger relief efforts. The selected food banks, which operate in communities directly served by the Cleveland Clinic health system in Ohio, Florida and Nevada, locally include Greater Cleveland Food Bank, Feeding Medina County, Dover New Philadelphia Food Pantry and Second Harvest (Lorain, Huron, Erie and Crawford counties).
