The first Morrison’s Cafeteria opens for lunch on September 4th, 1920, in The German Relief Hall, a well-known landmark in Mobile, AL.
Morrison’s general offices move to Mobile, AL, and the first logo, an old English tavern sign, is created.
The Morrison Cafeteria Company merges with Piccadilly Cafeteria Company of Birmingham to create Morrison Cafeterias Consolidated, Inc.
1930s
After 18 years in business, Morrison’s serves over 700,000 meals annually.
1940s
Morrison’s forms The Morrison Merchandising Corporation to supply restaurants.
Morrison wins first American Restaurant Association award for new “Cafeteria of Tomorrow” in Tampa, FL.
Morrison’s Restaurants Inc opens the first Town House Buffet.
1950s
Morrison Food Services, Inc. is created to support food services in the Business & Industry setting.
Morrison Food Services, Inc. signs first healthcare partnership with Candler Hospital in Savannah, GA.
1960s
Morrison begins vending operations.
Morrison implements the first national Employee Service Awards.
Morrison Cafeterias Consolidated rebrands to Morrison Incorporated and the acquires Admiral Benbow Inn motel chain.
1970s
Morrison Food Services expands to 184 locations including hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and office buildings.
Morrison opens 60th Cafeteria; now operating in 36 markets in the southeast.
Morrison closes their fast-food division, Oogleblook, and their Burger Inn restaurants. They then create a Family Buffet Division.
1980s
Morrison’s Food Services is renamed Morrison’s Management Services.
Morrison Incorporated acquires Ruby Tuesday’s 18 unit chain and forms Morrison’s Specialty Restaurant Division with the opening of the first L&N Seafood Grill at the World’s Fair in Knoxville, TN.
Morrison Incorporated’s cafeteria division is renamed the Family Dining Division.
Morrison’s Management Services is renamed Morrison’s Custom Management Division and operates the foodservice management accounts.
Morrison Incorporated’s contract food services division exceeds 800 accounts.
1990s
Morrison’s Hospitality Group sells its facilities management accounts to Crothall Services Group.
Ruby Tuesday celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Morrison relocates to their Atlanta Headquarters.
Morrison Management Specialists forms two divisions Morrison Healthcare Food Services and Morrison Senior Dining.
2000s
“The Morrison Way,” a personal mission statement dedicated to preserving Morrison’s ethical business practices and people-driven culture, is established.
Morrison Management Specialists, Inc. joins Compass Group USA, the world’s largest food service provider.
Morrison launches “Catering to You” and “Dining on Call” room service programs.
Morrison receives its first-ever Top125 Training Award.
Compass Group USA and Morrison serve as the official catering service at the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, UT.
2010s
Morrison introduces mVision®, a Business Intelligence (BI) tool that gives Morrison associates access to find information that helps to efficiently manage the business.
Morrison introduces nutritious packaged grab & go meals, which are offered in the retail space and as after-hours dining for patients, staff, and visitors.
2012 + Each company under Morrison Management Specialists becomes its own specialized sector, creating Morrison Healthcare, Morrison Senior Living, and Touch.
Morrison Healthcare launches MyDining, a personalized healthcare patient meal-ordering, tracking and monitoring application.
Mayo Clinic names Morrison Healthcare as its food and nutrition services provider.
Compass One Healthcare forms an exclusive strategic healthcare partnership with Press Ganey.
