Around Morrison Healthcare, we get excited about meaningful partnerships. We have the privilege of serving alongside first-class hospitals around the country who are as committed to wellness, healing, service and helping our planet as we are.
That’s why we’re so proud to sign the international Healthy Food in Healthcare pledge with our partner, Navicent Health. Navicent Health is an 830-bed hospital that has for years provided nutritious and healthy meal options for patients, visitors, and staff. Together, we are choosing to deepen our health commitment to the global community and environment.
All year we’ve been taking our commitment to the next level. In April, we rolled out WellPower, a refresh of our comprehensive wellness and sustainability programs. WellPower’s goal is to encourage people to eat nourishing food which helps them feel their best. “Through [the Healthy Food in Healthcare pledge] and our WellPower platform, we have an enormous opportunity in partnership with Navicent Health to continue influencing the eating habits of patients, hospital employees, and guests,” said Lisa Roberson, Senior National Director of Wellness & Sustainability for Morrison Healthcare.
The Healthy Food in Healthcare pledge demonstrates our commitment to increasing the availability of locally-sourced, ethically raised, and nourishing food while also minimizing food waste. While we’ve just signed the pledge, our associates are already doing their part to uphold the dignity of farmers, families and the communities in which they serve. Associates like Chef Bradley Czajka, a Morrison chef in Atlanta is offering locally grown organic fruits and vegetables each month on his account’s menu.
Outside our partnership with Navicent Health and our WellPower platform, we have the good fortune of influencing positive change in the healthcare industry alongside some of the nation’s leading healthcare organizations like Practice Greenhealth who are paving the way in sustainable and environmentally preferable practices.
We recognize that while some hospitals like Navicent Health are taking responsibility for a cleaner and healthier earth, we cannot force other organizations to do the same. But we believe that’s not an excuse to better our own practices. In 2009 we started by looking at ourselves in the mirror and were the first to sign our own Contractor’s Pledge with Healthcare Without Harm declaring that as a food supplier we were committed to making environmentally friendly supply chain changes, and increasing our output of sustainable foods. Regardless if our partners take the same strides, we will continue doing our part to make the world a cleaner, better place.
Our associates are proud to work here because we believe we’re doing meaningful work that makes a lasting impact. If positive change and influencing the future of our planet and industry is exciting to you, consider joining the Morrison family and check out current openings.
