Sourcing Sustainable Ingredients

Healing the Planet, One Plate at a Time.

Because Where Our Food Comes From Matters

How our food is raised and sourced is just as important as the nutrients they provide.

Creating a network of diverse suppliers and supporting local and sustainable purchasing is critical for improving health, protecting the environment and building resilient communities.

Sourcing Locally

Sourcing Locally

We are dedicated to purchasing local and regional menu ingredients from farmers and artisans within a 250-mile (local) and 400-mile (regional) radius of our marketplaces. This maximizes the nutritional value of our food and reduces the miles food needs to travel.

Building Equity with Community Farmers

Building Equity with Community Farmers

Including local suppliers in our purchasing strategy allows us to innovate, explore new markets and expand economic opportunities within the community.

Farm Animal Welfare

Farm Animal Welfare

Plant-forward menus and deliberate sourcing from suppliers help us support the humane welfare of farm animals, promoting a more compassionate and sustainable food and farming system.

Sustainable open water fishing

Sourcing Sustainable Fish

We partner with ethical food businesses to scale actions in sustainable sourcing, such as the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative, to preserve oceans for future generations. Our joint venture with the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch sources sustainable species and eco-friendly fisheries, including Faroe Islands salmon.

Sustainability Scorecard

Morrison Healthcare connects clients and suppliers, fostering collaboration and innovation to create a sustainable future. Together we have transitioned our salmon to sustainable Faroe Island salmon, which is Aquaculture Sustainable Council (ASC)-certified and a Best Choice in Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program and serve poultry that contains No Antibiotics Important to Human Medicine (NAIHM).

Data based on 2024 annual Morrison results. Calculations are based on items where the source has been identified as sustainable or unsustainable per the SFW criteria. Items that aren’ traceable aren’t reported.
